Assistant Manager - Business Development
We are looking for a commercially driven and customer-focused professional to join our team as Assistant Manager – Business Development and contribute towards expanding our customer base, growing bunker and lubricant sales, and strengthening LMS's market presence. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business development and sales across marine bunkers and lubricants, while supporting the company's marketing and digital presence. The role will involve identifying and onboarding new vessel owners, charterers and traders, developing existing customer relationships, driving lubricant sales, managing the end-to-end bunker sales process, and identifying new market opportunities to support revenue growth and profitability. The role will also be responsible for managing LMS's digital presence and supporting marketing initiatives to strengthen brand visibility and customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Development
· Conduct market research to identify and approach new vessel owners, charterers and traders, and drive their successful onboarding in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
· Evaluate market trends and customer requirements and recommend initiatives to diversify revenue streams and enhance profitability.
· Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline and proactively convert identified opportunities into business.
Marine Lubricant Sales
· Drive marine lubricant sales by identifying customer requirements and promoting suitable products and solutions.
· Prepare competitive quotations, negotiate commercial terms and secure orders in line with business objectives.
· Achieve assigned sales and revenue targets for marine lubricants.
· Develop new lubricant business opportunities while strengthening relationships with existing customers.
Bunker Sales & Customer Management
· Manage the end-to-end bunker sales process, from responding to customer inquiries and preparing quotations through to negotiating pricing and contractual terms and securing orders.
· Coordinate with Operations, Finance and other relevant teams to ensure the smooth and timely execution of bunker deliveries.
· Proactively address customer concerns and complaints, working with internal stakeholders to provide timely resolutions.
· Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing bunker and lubricant customers through regular engagement.
· Drive customer satisfaction, repeat business and long-term customer loyalty.
Marketing & Digital Presence
· Manage the Company's digital presence, including its website and social media platforms, where applicable.
· Develop and publish relevant promotional and marketing content to enhance LMS's visibility in the market.
· Monitor digital engagement and performance metrics and provide Management with regular analytical reports and recommendations.
· Identify opportunities to improve marketing effectiveness, customer engagement and overall brand visibility.
What We Are Looking For
· A Bachelor's Degree or professional qualification in Business Management, Marketing, Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics or a related discipline.
· Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Business Development, Sales, Marketing or Commercial roles, preferably within the maritime, shipping, bunker trading, marine lubricants or related industries.
· Strong understanding of the maritime industry and key industry stakeholders, particularly vessel owners, charterers and traders.
· Proven experience in sales, business development and customer relationship management.
· Experience in bunker sales and/or marine lubricant sales will be a strong advantage.
· Strong commercial acumen with the ability to negotiate pricing and commercial terms and convert opportunities into sales.
· Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation and relationship-building skills.
· Strong market research and analytical capabilities, with the ability to identify and assess new business opportunities.
· Customer-focused, results-oriented and proactive, with strong ownership and follow-through.
· Ability to collaborate effectively with Operations, Finance and other internal stakeholders.
· Good understanding of digital marketing, social media and website management will be an advantage.
