John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH) is Sri Lanka’s largest listed company in the Colombo Stock Exchange. From managing the largest number of hotel rooms in Sri Lanka to owning the largest private-sector-owned transportation business in the country, providing port and marine fuel services to IT solutions, manufacturing of food and beverages to running a chain of supermarkets, tea broking to stock broking, banking to real estate, JKH has made its presence felt in virtually every major sphere of the economy. Since its modest beginnings as a produce and exchange broker in the early 1870s, JKH has been known to constantly re-invent, re-align and reposition itself in exploring new avenues of growth, and is widely considered as a benchmark of the local economy.
JKH is a full member of the World Economic Forum, and having issued Global Depository Receipts on the Luxemburg Stock Exchange, was the first Sri Lankan company to be listed overseas. As a Member of the Global Compact – the UN-sponsored international corporate citizenship initiative – JKH is also committed to sustainable development and greater social responsibility in a multi-stakeholder context. JKH has been ranked first in LMD’s “Most Respected Entities in Sri Lanka” survey for a record ten years including in 2015.

John Keells Group’s Transportation Sector offers a wide array of transportation solutions, covering land, sea and air in Sri Lanka. The sector’s vision to be a leading provider of transportation solutions related services and infrastructure in the region, and is concentrated into three strategic business units.

The Airline and Aviation Services SBU boasts of airline representations for several prestigious global carriers, including KLM, American Airlines, Air France, Gulf Air and Jet Airways. These are represented in Sri Lanka under Mack Air Services (Pvt) Ltd, and the Maldives under Mack Air Services Maldives (Pvt) Ltd. One of the country’s pioneer travel agencies, Mackinnons American Express Travel (Pvt) Ltds also part of the sector, and affiliated with global travel giant American Express. Finally in this SBU, Sri Lanka’s premier domestic airline Cinnamon Air comprises three luxurious Cessna aircraft, including two amphibian aircraft and flies scheduled flights to key locations around the country.

Under the SBU of Logistics, John Keells Logistics Limited owns and operates state-of-the-art warehouses for several large companies in Sri Lanka, using the latest technology, infrastructure, and fleet of vehicles. DHL Keells (Pvt) Limited is a joint venture between John Keells and leading worldwide logistics provider DHL.

The third SBU of the transportation sector has a significant presence in the maritime industry. Sri Lanka’s premier bunker supplier Lanka Marine Services (Pvt) Ltd is in the sector, and has enjoyed a market share in excess of 45% of the Sri Lankan bunker market for several years. Mackinnon Mackenzie and Company (Shipping) Limited is one of the oldest ship agency houses in the country with a history dating back over a century. Finally, the South Asia Gateway Terminals (SAGT) is a private cargo handling terminal at the Colombo Port of which John Keells is a majority stakeholder. This terminal handles over 2.5 million TEUs annually.
